They already own it and are silent investors that don't give a *** that their secondary income stream is run by outrageous scammers. They've also been let off the legal suit by the judge but Author Solutions is still being sued.

The judge just let Pearsons and Penguin free from the law suit.

Jeff definitely works for Author Solutions they use the fact that Pearsons bought it to scam more people every day. Google this "the author exploitation business" to read more (asking you to google as Pissed Consumer doesn't like people posting links.

I am a first time author and thought that self-publishing was the best choice. The book was actually just released as of 3/29/12. I have done a huge amount of PR work on my own and know for a fact I have sold a large number of copies. What concerns me is that I have...

My book is coming out this month, and I already agree with everything I have seen written here. iUniverse from what I have gone through so far is a tragic excuse for a self-publishing company. They are porly managed and staffed by unhappy people from what I can see. The only person I had a good rapport with was the original sales person I talked with when I signed up, she was plesent and listend to me. (Her job I am sure!)

I spent years meditating to develope a positive attitude and patience, dealing with iUniverse for the last seven months has stripped me bare! When I first check on-line I read positive articles about them, but now 95% of what I read is negative. And I truly believe the other 5% is put on-line by managers and salespeople that work for iUniverse. That is sad. I understand that many times first books do not make any money, but the obserdity of what iUniverse is telling their clients (1 book sold) when most people have more family than that :) tests the bounds of belief. I will certainly join any class action suit that is lodged against iUniverse if they give me those kind of answers about book sales.

I am going to keep a journal at book signings, names of purchasers and where the book was purchased etc.

My book is a series-you can bet that I am not going to have them publish the next one!!

Iuniverse in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory - Inaccuracy in their email

Got an email from IUniverse, which listed success stories. One was that Randy Arrington's iUniverse book Kerosene Cowboys made into a movie starring Mario Van Peebles, Cam Gigandet, Rachel Leigh Cook, Shane West and Bill Pullman. The movie has been retitled Red Sky, and looks like it is dead. But that isn't anything to do with IUniverse. What worries me is that one of the names are spelled wrong, Rachael Leigh Cook is Ael, and Mario Van Peebles is directing not starring. Not big things, but it seems to show a lack of accuracy. And these people are offering us editing for payment.

I saw the same claim, but Mario Peebles was listed as a DIRECTOR. Don't know if they changed it after the comment here or not.

Iuniverse in Windsor, Connecticut - Possible legal actions

i see that there are quite a few authors who never got any royalites from IUniverse. it looks like their website is blocked where we are supposed to see our sales - the way it is described in our contracts. this might fall under embezzlement or fraud category. if we have enough people in the same position we can engage a lawyer to represent us in a class action, and i have one to consult with. i emailed IU asking for the name/email of the CEO but have a feeling that my email will not be returned -like my other ones. my email is dr.irene@comcast.net. if anybody feels the same way i do - mb we can unite our efforts.

Agree. I haven't received any royalties after a year of publishing.

A total scam. We need to start a website that will bring all of us, who have been scammed, together for a lawsuit.

DO NOT USE IUNIVERSE!!

I am still right there with you on this...they say they are having issues with their website. Rather interesting as I have talked to people who say its not ever worked for them.

Also I got a call from some lady who they pay to watch this website I have tried calling her multiple times and big surprise no answer.

Oh here is a new development, they argued with me over the price setting of the book (they wanted to charge 16.95 and I wanted it 13.95) now I am seeing it on Amazon and B&N going for 10.40. I have actually gotten dozens of emails from people who bought the book and my guess is that when they feel it is ok to show me the sales figures they won't match on any level.

Iuniverse in Atlanta, Georgia - Misadvertising

i deeply regret about not paying attention to the negative comments about IUniverse. i had a misfortune to publish a book with them. they go aggressively after authors promising the best servies, but not doing a fraction of it. every single department is trying to squeeze as much money as possible offering bogus services and not providing even the proofreading. now, when they cannot get any more money out of me, the do not return my calls or emails, unless i threaten to report them to IRS and suggest an audit - which is not such a bad idea. they are unprofessional, deceptive and need to be removed from the list of publishers.

I agree, I purchased the Bookstore Premier Pro $2,299 & iUniverse hired an editor for $1,800. I just wrapping up the design phase.

We start off with awesome packages but you are constantly asking.... why do they keep asking for more money? Are we actually going to get that investment back at 10% royalty for a book that sells for $16? Just 10 mins after I hit the internal content approved button I noticed a misspelled word.

I immediately contacted my Publishing Services Associate who told me I would have to pay $100 to add an "o" to the word. :eek I feel like I'm like i'm being bleed out!

Unfortunately, I can not disagree. They finally responded to me a month after I made the same assertion to them-- nearly 2 years after publishing my book.

As so many others have said, we

were fleeced.

Iuniverse will steal from any author

They provide bad service and you will not get your correct money for your books...they own me 5 years worth of rayalties and will not pay me....print on demand will cause you to get ripped off...be careful. They manufactured mistakes and charged me extra to correct the mistakes that they had put in my book...they delayed the printing time to charge more money and they completed the cover of my book wrong and charged me again to fix it .....they are just real bad people and you cannot trust them I will get a lawyer to look into this matter .
