I have been looking at a number of businesses which operate in the self publishing market. Non of them are cheap and although I subscribe to the idea that you get what you pay for, I can't see the value in any of them.

As for iUniverse, well just take a look at their web site. It is simply a portal to get your details, nothing more. No information about packages, nothing about how and what they do, no contact details, and what can only be described as fictitious testimonials, have a look at the facebook profiles. Message some of these people, you will find the answers interesting if not less than encouraging. It's easy to scan facebook or any business link or directory service and pull out names. It's also easy to go onto book retail sites and pull out names.

As for book retailers, have a look through some sites and check out book listings published by iUniverse.

Be careful with all self publishing services. It's worth doing your homework if you plan to use one. Alternatively, look into doing it yourself, it's not that hard and nowhere as costly as using an agent you can't rely on or have any recourse with once they have your money.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Iuniverse Cons: Force contract.

I don't think this is true. I know an author who has actually published 9 books with them and is happy.
